Chapters 1-10

The book, Middle School: Worst Years of My Life tells the story of Rafe Khatchadorian and his first year of middle school. The first chapter tell us a little bit about Rafe and his family. The second chapter tells us about one of the main antagonists of this book, Miller the Killer. We are also told about his two faced teacher Mr. Rourke. In chapter three, we are told about his schools vice principal Mrs. Stricker. In chapter four, Rafe meets his crush Jeanne Galletti and the dreaded rules of the school.In chapter 5, Rafe starts to believe rules are meant for breaking and comes up with the idea to break every rule in the school. Rafe starts by pulling the fire alarm. In chapters 7-8, we learn about Rafes moms boyfriend, Bear, who is a sloppy mess who cant tale care of himself. In chapters 9-10, Rafe shows his very sadistic room.
Chapters 11-20

In chapters 11-20, we are told about more rule breaking and operation R.A.F.E (Rules aren't for everyone). In chapter 11, we learn about Rafes, eavesdropping and annoying sister, Georgia. In chapter 12, Rafe then starts the operation R.A.F.E, an idea to break every rule in the school handbook. In chapters 13 and 14, Rafe tells his mom about his first day and breaks the no running in the halls rule. In chapter 15 and 16, Rafe verbally vandalizes Shakespeare. In chapters 17 and 18, Rafe makes a rule where he cant hurt anyone. In 19 and 20, Rafe tells us about his less crazy teachers.
Chapters 21-30

In chapters 21-30, things get a little more heated. In chapters 21 and 22, Miller the Killer challenges Rafe to a fight, but Rafe refuses which makes him lose a R.A.F.E life for not breaking a rule. In chapters 23, 24, and 25, Rafe explains that Leo isn't real and gets in trouble for getting detention for the Shakespeare problem. In chapters 26-30, Rafe flirts with Jeanne and breaks the dress code by running around in a homemade ninja costume and follows that up by running around the school in just his underwear, sending him to Mr. Dwight's office.
Chapters 31- 40

In chapters 31- 40, things are changed for Rafe for the better and for the worse. In chapters 31, 32, 33, and 34, Rafes sister tells his mom about him running around the school and breaking the dress code twice. He then finally admits to his antics and the attempts to be normal after breaking his moms heart. In chapters 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, and 40, Miller takes Rafes notebook and blackmails him to get it back. Rafe starts selling Bears energy drinks called Zoom, but gets caught and they are soon confiscated. Jeanne also starts to like Rafe for being normal Rafe, not rule breaking Rafe.
Chapters 41-50

In chapters 41-50, Rafe starts to be very mischievous. Jeanne asks Rafe to help with charity only to get put in a non ventilated chicken suit on the hottest day of the year for 6 hours. Rafe then gets his report card with all of his failing grades, but proceeds to burn it in a ditch near his house while taking Ditka, his dog on a walk, only for his mom to find out. Rafe then decides to pathetically fight Miller and gets in school suspension. Rafe then starts being tutored by Jeanne and Donatello to help boost his grades up and not make him fail and repeat 6th grade.
Chapters 51-75

In chapters 51-75, Rafes school year starts to end and must think of something big. Rafe tries to break the no sleeping rule, but it backfires, so he in turn makes Miller the Killer chicken posters, which eventually gets Rafe beaten up. Rafe then learns he might have to repeat sixth grade again, which makes him run into the bathroom. Jeanne goes in to talk him out, but Stricker catches her and gives her detention. This, hurting Jeanne's feeling, loses him his last life and is out of the game. Rafe eventually decides to paint what he thinks of the school on a wall of the school and is arrested and grounded. To make matters worse, Bear breaks Rafes moms wrist and is arrested and kicked out of the house, in which the kids are then taken to the hospital in a cop car. Rafe fights Miller after being continuously berated by him and is expelled for vandalism and fighting. Rafe is then offered a new school to go to a new school next year. Later on, Leo is revealed to be Rafes dead brother. Rafe then goes to his moms work for the rest of the summer.
